Komiket Pride: Art market, queer artists, more await this week

Happy Pride!

Komiket Philippines, the non-profit organization that organizes comics art markets and publishes Filipino comics, is holding Komiket Pride to join the Pride festivities this June!

The first week of Komiket Pride will be held this week, from June 7 to 9, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Ayala Malls The 30th in Pasig City. The second week will be happening from June 14 to 16.

Komiket first announced the Pride-themed event back in late May by dropping five unique posters for Pride on its social media pages. The five artworks were art directed by Bunny Luz and produced in RISO by Sneckoil Riso (Stevie B.), and were inspired by queen abundance and queer joy. The posters were created by five artists, namely Annix Sarmiento (Sobsannix), Emel Baldo (Emeldraws), Nicci Escario (Niccidraws), Cyrill Acuña (Awkwardbutable), and Van Opura (Tapiocaterror).

The artists' prints will also be for sale in limited quantities at Komiket Pride.

Komiket Pride's art market will feature over 200 exhibitors, so get ready to check out tons of art, prints, stickers, zines, comics, and merchandise made by local queer artists and creators.

The event will also include talks over the weekend on various interesting topics on art and queer issues, including a discussion on RISO printing, gender identity and mental health, HIV awareness, SOGIESC 101, trans comic creation, and so much more.
