Munimuni to hold 'Alegorya' concert in July at UP Theater

Filipino indie-folk band Munimuni will be holding a major concert on July 20, 7 p.m., at the University of the Philippines Theater (Villamor Hall) in Diliman, Quezon City.

The "Alegorya: A Munimuni Concert" is in celebration of the band's namesake album, their second full-length one at that, which dropped on May 8.

The "Alegorya" album features 12 tracks, including "Tupa" featuring Barbie Almalbis.

Prior to its launch, the five-piece act shared on social media the idea behind the album, the songs of which covering various topics and experiences, such as "lighthearted songs about love, thought-provoking philosophical songs, honest songs depicting mental health struggles, and hopeful songs, all in one album."

The band added that "Alegorya" is an album that nudges listeners to be more reflective about themselves and the world they live in.

"It is hopeful in its belief in the possibility that a better world is out there, beyond what we see at present, all while we are all fully immersed in the now," Munimuni said.

Tickets went live on May 31 and are priced at P800 each for Upper Balcony, P1,000 for Lower Balcony, P1,500 for Upper Orchestra, P2,000 for Lower Orchestra, P2,500 for VIP (includes a signed poster), and P2,800 for SVIP (includes a meet and greet, soundcheck access, and a signed poster).

Munimuni comprises AJ Jiao, Ben Ayes, John Owen Castro, Jolo Ferrer, and Josh Tumaliuan and is known for songs like "Marilag," "Sa Hindi Pag-alala," "Sa'yo," "Bawat Piyesa," and more.

The band took a break amid the health crisis in 2020 but returned to the scene in August 2021 with a collab song, "Sugat," with Ben&Ben.

In July 2022, Munimuni headlined the al fresco music show "Gimme Shelter" alongside Ben&Ben, She's Only Sixteen, Cheats, and Pamungkas.
