Rico Blanco marks 50 million streams of 'Antukin' on Spotify
Rico Blanco unearthed an old photo of him to mark the 50 million streams of his song "Antukin" on Spotify.
On Instagram, the former Rivermaya vocalist and guitarist shared a photo of him from the 2000s playing the drums.
"Tinugtog ko lahat ng instrumento gitara bass piano drums para may kanta ako sa album na hindi pulido (lahat magagaling na sessionists kasi sa ibang kanta). Tapos gusto ko sana walang sense masyado 'yung lyrics (pero nag fail tayo dito kasi in the end nalagyan ko parin ng meaning)," Rico began in the caption.
Rico then shared that "Antukin" was supposed to be a "throw away song," but didn't expect that it would become one of OPM fans' well-loved songs of him.
"Bilang mga artist hindi talaga natin kaya i-second guess ang audience. Basta mag-trip lang tayo ng mag-trip. Bahala na si batman," he added.
In the comment section, OPM fans expressed their love to the iconic song that became one of their "favorites."
"Isa to sa mga favorite mong kanta idol koriks!" one user wrote.
Fellow OPM artists Ogie Alcasid and Ebe Dancel also expressed their support for Rico's classic song.
"No pressure the best," Dancel wrote.
"Mismo," Alcasid said.
"Antukin" was one of the songs included in Rico's debut album "Your Universe" released in 2008.
Rico, together with the original Rivermaya members Bamboo, Mark Escueta, and Nathan Azarcon, got back together on stage once again to perform for a reunion concert last February 17.
He is set to perform at the Clark Aurora Music Festival in April alongside fellow OPM artists Parokya ni Edgar and SB19.
