Beatrice Luigi Gomez reacts to Miss Universe removing age limit

Beatrice Luigi Gomez is supportive of all the new Miss Universe pageant rules which promote inclusivity for the queens.

In an interview with GMA News Online, the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 queen said she appreciates the new set of guidelines.

The Miss Universe Organization has removed the age limit for candidates and opened the competition to wives, mothers, and transwomen.

Beatrice said that the removal of the age limit in particular is beneficial for the candidates, as some aspiring queens need more time before they are ready to chase their dreams.

"That's been my problem also, the reason why I had to rush joining the national pageant even if I felt na hindi pa 'ko ganun ka-ready, because I was worried na baka lumampas na 'ko sa age or hindi ko na prime, or I might not qualify anymore," said, who competed in Miss Universe Philippines when she was 26 years old.

"And it's good na they included [everyone] and wala nang ageism. It's really good na they are supporting all women, transwomen, and lalo na mothers," she added.

The Cebuana beauty queen is likewise very excited for this year's Miss Universe Philippines competition because of the candidates.

"They have really good quality of delegates this year and I'm very excited for all of them, kasi some of them I know already from the past pageants that I've been with locally and international as well," Beatrice said.

Beatrice made history as the first openly gay Miss Universe Philippines. She competed in the international pageant in 2021 and finished in the Top 5.
