CNN Philippines’ journos Pinky Webb and Pia Hontiveros share tight touching hug after announcement of closure

After CNN Philippines confirmed its closure, broadcast journalists Pinky Webb and Pia Hontiveros-Pagkalinawan shared a tight hug surely pulled at the heartstrings of netizens.

On Instagram, Pinky shared snaps of her and Pia embracing each other after Nine Media Corp (NMC). announced the closure of CNN Philippines.

The first photo showed the two CNN Philippines anchor smiling at each other, the second photo meanwhile showed the two in a very tight embrace. Their faces could no longer be seen but the closeness and the tightness of their hug was more than enough to inform netizens of the emotional toil the closure has on them.

“My debate partner," Pinky wrote in the caption with the hashtag #IWillMissYou.

Netizens were swept away with emotions as they thanked the iconic CNN “tandem” for their service, and hoped the best for them.

Following a weekend of hearsays and rumors of closure, NMC on Monday announced it will cease operations of CNN Philippines starting Wednesday, January 31. They said it was due to “significant” financial losses reported in the past years.

NMC said it will discontinue its news and production operations on all media platforms branded as CNN Philippines. According to its chairman D. Edgard Cabangon, the termination of the franchise deal with CNN International was already delayed from as early as last year.
