Delivery rider whose motorcycle caught fire receives a new one from 'Unang Hirit'

A delivery rider whose motorcycle caught fire when he got into an accident at a flyover received a special surprise from “Unang Hirit.”

On the show's 24th anniversary, hosts Shaira Diaz and Mariz Umali went to Malabon City to deliver the surprise to Khomenie Alauya.

In an interview, Khomenie recalled that he was about to help a fellow motorcycle rider when the accident happened.

“Kasi may balak sana [akong] tulungan na rider tapos [ginilidan] ko, nabangga ako sa paparating na rider din kaya [nabangga] ako sa likod. Tumilapon ‘yung motor, pati ako, tapos ‘yung ano, ‘yun nga, nasunog ‘yung motor ko,” he said.

Following the unfortunate incident, he got separated from his family, who are now in Mindanao, after his wife decided to part ways with him.

Khomenie has three children, and two of them are still in elementary school.

“Pinipilit ko talagang kayanin kasi pagsubok ‘to eh,” he said. “Talagang ‘yun ang kapalaran natin eh.”

“Panalangin ko po ay sana magkasama kaming muli. Mahirap din po kasing mawalay sa pamilya eh, sa totoo lang,” he added.

Ivan Mayrina then arrived with the special surprise they had for Khomenie: a black motorcycle with a protective helmet!

Khomenie couldn’t help but get emotional, expressing his gratitude for the morning show.
