Shamcey Supsup, MJ Lastimosa assess Michelle Dee's overall Miss Universe 2023 performance
Shamcey Supsup and MJ Lastimosa gave their evaluation of Michelle Dee's overall performance in the recently concluded Miss Universe 2023.
On Monday's episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the Miss Universe Philippines 2011 and Miss Universe Philippines 2014 commented on Michelle's national costume, swimsuit, and evening gown performances.
For the national costume, MJ said Michelle wore "something different."
"Sa akin, OK kasi nakita naman natin si Thailand nag Tuktuk so maybe it's time for us to try something different," she said.
For Shamcey, who is also the Miss Universe Philippines national director, Michelle's national costume brought not only the Philippines but her personality on the Miss Universe stage.
"This is not the typical, conventional costume di ba?" Shamcey said.
"When she was able to explain it to me, I said, 'OK, you're bringing not just the Philippines but yourself, your personality into this, then go, approve," she added.
Meanwhile, both beauty queens agreed that Michelle slayed her performance in the swimsuit competition.
"Superb!" MJ said. "Parang the swimsuit is really custom-fit for her."
"It was like a fresh air, a breath of fresh air," Shamcey added.
Lastly, for Michelle's Apo Whang-Od-inspired evening gown, Shames said it was a "standout" among the Top 10.
"Noong lumabas na, it was like grabe 'yung details and the inspiration behind it," she said.
"Tsaka standout 'di ba? Kaya nga, I really thought, Top 5 na 'to," she added.
Meanwhile, MJ said it's "one of the best gowns" that a Philippine bet has showcased on the Miss Universe stage.
When asked about who their personal Top 5 picks were, both Shamcey and MJ went for eventual winner Nicaragua, as well as Thailand, Philippines, Colombia, and Australia.
Michelle concluded her Miss Universe journey with a Top 10 finish and three special awards, including the Miss Universe fan vote, the Spirit of Carnival Award, and Voice for Change.
Aside from Shamcey and MJ, other Filipina queens lauded Michelle for her outstanding performance during the competition, including her cousin Winwyn Marquez, Samantha Panlilio, Kylie Verzosa, and Pauline Amelinckx, among others.
