85-year-old vendor receives early Father's Day gift from GMA Kapuso Foundation

An 85-year-old vendor from Angono, Rizal received an early Father's Day gift from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a report on "24 Oras," Monday, Bernardo Magante goes to Wawa Park every day to sell biscuits in a cart.

As seen in a video of him captured by a netizen, Tatay Bernardo is visibly struggling to walk and his back is hunched.

"Pag wala akong hinahawakan medyo dispalinghado na ako maglakad," he said.

His children wanted him to stop working, but Tatay Bernardo said he gets weaker if he just stays home. So he continues pushing his cart and selling his biscuits, which nets him a daily income of P300.

He said he is also working hard so he could get his house fixed, as the roof is damaged and already leaking and when it rains.

"'Yung bahay ko 'yung taas niyan ang sahig ay plywood, eh nasisira na rin eh nasa 30 years na rin," he said.

To honor Tatay Bernardo this Father's Day, the GMA Kapuso Foundation took him to an optometrist who prescribed him a pair of eyeglasses.

He was also taken to an orthopedic surgeon, who diagnosed him with arthritis in his knees and spine.

"Ako ay naiiyak dahil hindi ko akalaing ganto na ako ay ganito makikilala ng GMA," he said. "Ako ay labis na nagpapasalamat sa GMA Foundation dahil ako ay napagtuunan ng pansin."

If you're interested to help him fix his house, the GMA Kapuso Foundation accepts donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
