Jopay Paguia on Mayonnaise composing 'Jopay' for her: 'Kinikilig ako'

Jopay Paguia admitted that she felt "kilig" about having a song dedicated and named after her.

On Tuesday's episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Jopay recalled the moment when she finally met the band Mayonnaise who wrote the song "Jopay" in 2003.

According to the former of member of SexBomb Girls, the band hadn't met her in person until last month.

"Ang kwento niya [Mayonnaise's Monty Macalinao], napanuod niya lang ako tapos gusto niya ako gawan ng kanta," she said.

In an episode of "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho," Monty revealed that he wrote "Jopay" after watching the dancer in the Lenten special of "Eat Bulaga!" and thought of writing a love song for the celerity.

Asked about how she feels about having a song written for her, she said, "Kinikilig ako."

"Napaka-wholesome ng song for me, catchy siya," said Jopay about the song. "'Yung line na 'hindi tayo mag-aaway," pwede mo siya sabihin sa may mga karelasyon na, 'ahh, sana all.'"

Last month, Jopay finally met Mayonnaise during the OPM band's 20th-anniversary tour in Lucena, Quezon Province.

To this day, "Jopay" remains one of OPM's finest hits. It recently went viral on TikTok after Kosang Marlon posted an out-of-tune version of the song.
