School parents plant vegetables for their kids through GMA Kapuso Foundation's project

Parents in General Nakar, Quezon planted vegetables at their children's school to help the pupils eat a healthy diet.

According to a report on "24 Oras," Wednesday, this is under the "Kapuso ng Kalikasan: Gulayan sa Paaralan," a part of the "Give-a-Gift: Feed a Child" project that the GMA Kapuso Foundation launched in January 2023.

Through the project, parents plant vegetables which are then cooked and served to the students.

"Ang programang gulayan sa paaralan ay nakakatulong, unang una, upang makintal sa isip ng mga kabataan ang kahalagahan ng pagtatanim ng ligtas at maayos na pagkain," said John Leo Tena, a municipal agriculturist at the Office of the Municipal Agriculture in General Nakar Quezon.

Among the beneficiaries is Marissa Nazareno, who has 10 children.

"Malaking-malaking katulungan sa aming mag-anak at lalung-lalo dun sa mga bata. Sinasabi nga ng mga anak ko masarap lagi ang ulam tapos, ay may gatas pa raw," she said.

The foundation distributed seeds and taught the parents the proper way of planting.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
