Lea Salonga, 'Voice of Disney Princesses,' among TIME100 Impact awardees
Lea Salonga has been revealed to be among the recipients of the TIME100 Impact Awards.
In a feature, Time Magazine dubbed the renowned Filipina singer as the “Voice of Disney Princesses” and a “role model for children of color.”
“Salonga prides herself on promoting representation in Hollywood and on Broadway, and showing underrepresented groups that their stories matter,” they said.
Having been the voice of princesses Jasmine and Mulan, Lea told TIME Magazine that she is happy to “be that for someone else,” especially the kids.
TIME Magazine also noted how Lea proved that a child from Southeast Asia can reach great heights when she made a Tony Award-winning performance in Miss Saigon in 1989.
Among Lea’s other iconic shows include “Yellow Rose” and “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin,” where she plays a queer mom.
Other TIME100 Impact awardees include Ellie Goulding for using her voice to protect the environment, and Will.i.am, who is "looking beyond music and into the future." —Franchesca Viernes/JCB, GMA News
