Herlene Budol to represent Philippines at Miss Planet International 2022

Herlene Nicole Budol is the Philippines’ representative for Miss Planet International 2022!

The announcement was made official by the pageant organization on Monday, sharing the beauty queen’s headshot and Darna photos.

“We are glad to announce that Herlene Nicole Budol, first runner-up of Binibining Pilipinas 2022, will represent the Philippines at the Miss Planet International 2022 pageant,” the caption read.

In a YouTube vlog, meanwhile, her manager Wilbert Tolentino said he chose Herlene as he had “exclusive rights to choose a candidate.” 

Wilbert said Herlene would still continue answering questions in Tagalog, so they would hire an interpreter to accompany her during the competition’s run.

Aimed at promoting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), the pageant said each candidate “will have the opportunity to propose the creation of the [SDG] 18.”

“We are to give the tools to our candidates to strengthen their social projects and make possible a necessary generational change in order to Save our Planet and Save Humanity on Earth,” it said.

The Miss Planet International 2022 coronation is on Nov. 19 in Kampala, Uganda.

This update came shortly after Herlene was named first runner-up at Binibining Pilipinas 2022, where she also won seven special awards.
