Over 2,000 flash flood victims in Banaue, Ifugao, receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation
More than 2,000 flash flood victims in Banaue, Ifugao, received food packs and other essentials from GMA Kapuso Foundation.
As reported on “24 Oras” Friday, around 1,052 families and nine barangays were affected by the flash flood last week, said municipal social welfare development officer Aginaya Cabanayaw.
Among the flood victims is Cyril Gano, who is still clearing their house of mud.
“Noong bumalik ako para i-close o tingan iyong mga alaga namin, wala na eh. Tumaas iyong tubig,” he said, adding one of their two pigs died.
The flood also caused damage to the rip rap on the way to Barangay View Point, which was the GMA Kapuso Foundation team’s initial target destination.
However, through bayanihan with soldiers, policemen, Bureau of Fire Protection, and other volunteers, the relief packs were delivered to residents in Barangays View Point, Tam-an, and Amganad.
The relief packs distributed to 2,396 individuals contained food packs, hygiene kits, drinking water, blankets, face masks, and other essentials.
