Single dad’s wish to have 4 kids checked by doctor granted by GMA Kapuso Foundation

A single father’s wish to have his children checked by a medical professional has been granted by GMA Kapuso Foundation.

As reported on “24 Oras” Wednesday, Willy Gutaba of Bulacan hoped his four children would receive medical help for their special needs.

Gutaba noticed that his eldest did not seem to mature while his second child had not yet spoken a word at six years old.

The father worked as a tailor and was the only one caring for his kids after his wife died of cancer.

With the help of GMA Kapuso Foundation, the children underwent a series of virtual tests with developmental pediatrician Dr. Joselyn Eusebio.

“Sila ay napapabilang sa kondisyon na tinatawag nating intellectual disability. ’Yon ang term na doon sa dati nating tawag na mental retardation,” Eusebio said, adding it may be “namamana (inherited).”

Apart from the medical assistance, GMA Kapuso Foundation gave grocery packs, hygiene kits, blankets, drawing materials, mats, medicine, and face masks to the family.

As an early Father’s Day gift, Gutaba also received his own sewing machine and some fabric from an unnamed donor.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa GMA Kapuso Foundation dahil sa binigay pong tulong sa amin na napaka-laking bagay po sobra. Blessing. Siguro ito na ’yung tugon sa ’kin ng pagdadasal araw-araw,” he said.

GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
