Mom of 6 with lump behind ear seeks help
A mother of six from Cavite is asking for help to have the lump behind her ear treated as it prevents her from getting a job and providing for her children.
According to a “24 Oras” report Thursday, Deiserie dela Cruz could not apply as a service crew member because of the swollen lymph node behind her ear, which started from just a sore throat.
Deiserie said her condition made her everyday tasks harder. She received treatment in the past, but the antibiotics she took were not effective and the lump just got bigger.
“Ang hirap din kasi parang ’pag naiipit po siya, halos magdamag siya nagre-release ng parang tubig,” she said.
[It’s hard because whenever it gets pressed, it always releases a water-like substance.]
Deiserie wanted to be able to provide better for her children by getting a job, but all she could do was sell snacks.
After learning about Deiserie’s condition through Facebook, a team from GMA Kapuso Foundation immediately brought her to Dr. Gil Vicente, an ENT specialist at St. Luke’s Medical Center.
“Lumalabas na siya ay merong tinatawag nating branchial cleft cyst. Ang laman nito ay fluid na pwede magkaro’n ng infection so mas maganda, tanggalin natin,” he said.
[She has a condition called branchial cleft cyst. The lump contains fluid which can cause infection so it’s better to remove it.]
“May potential itong pumutok. ’Pag merong bukol sa leeg, as much as possible, alamin muna natin kung anong problema dito. Mas maganda na magpatingin tayo,” he added.
[It also has potential to pop. If there’s a lump on your neck, as much as possible, know first what’s the problem. It’s better to have it checked.]
Determined to have a better life for their family, Deiserie is asking for help to get treated.
“Sana po matulungan ako kasi nahihirapan na po talaga ako,” she said.
[I hope you can help me because I’m really having a hard time.]
