GMA Network dominates Gandingan Awards 2022


Several GMA Network shows and personalities were recognized Saturday at UP Community Broadcasters’ Society’s Gandingan Awards 2022.

The Kapuso network dominated Gandingan Awards 2022 with 19 winning entries. The theme of this year’s virtual awards program focused on the issue of rights.

Award-winning broadcast journalist Kara David of “Brigada” was named best TV program host, while Raffy Tima of “Balitanghali” received the best news anchor award.

“Atom Araullo Specials” was recognized as the most development-oriented documentary program for its “Habol Hininga” episode, while Reporter’s Notebook received the most development-oriented investigative story award for “Lilibeth, Sonya, Frank, at Fabel.”

The most development-oriented magazine program award went to “Brigada” for “Millennial Vote,” while the most development-oriented feature story was Balitanghali’s “Bantay Kalikasan: Used Face Masks in Batangas Coral Reefs.”

“I-Witness,” meanwhile, received three awards for different episodes: most development-oriented educational program for “Di Paiiwan”; most development-oriented youth program for “Nueve, Trese, Katorse”; and most development-oriented environmental program for Mask Land.”

Drew Arellano won the Gandingan ng Edukasyon (Special Citation) for “AHA!”, while Susan Enriquez was awarded the Gandingan ng Kabuhayan (Special Citation) for “Pera Paraan.”

The most development-oriented TV plug, meanwhile, was given to GMA Regional TV’s “Nakikita Kita.”

In the radio category, dzBB’s “Kurtesiya na, Disiplina pa” was recognized most development-oriented radio plug.

Arnold Clavio and Connie Sison were hailed as best AM radio program hosts for “One-on-One Walang Personalan,” while Mark Makalalad was named best field reporter for “Markado.”

Meanwhile, the primetime series “First Yaya” was named most development-oriented drama program for its pilot episode, while “All-Out Sundays” was hailed most development-oriented musical segment/program for its “Tuloy Pa Rin The Covid Special” episode.

Barangay LS DJ Renzmark Jairuz Ricafrente, also known as Papa Dudut, received the best FM radio program host award, while Barangay Love Stories’ “Bagong Bayani” episode took home the most development-oriented radio drama award. – RC, GMA News
