145 women from Benguet, Pangasinan get free hygiene kits, medical consultation with GMA Kapuso Foundation’s help
More than 100 residents in Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan, and Tublay, Benguet, have received free hygiene kits and medical consultations as part of GMA Kapuso Foundation’s activities for Women’s Month.
According to a “24 Oras” report Thursday, among the 145 beneficiaries were Elena and Nora Dalope, who earned a living from deboning milkfish.
“Sa pag-boneless ko, nakapagtapos din sila sa pag-aaral. Teacher ’yung dalawa (from deboning fish, I was able to pay off my children’s school expenses. They’re now teachers),” Elena said.
Nora, meanwhile, said she borrowed money to buy fish to debone so she could earn PHP5 for each.
Beneficiaries in Tublay, Benguet, include Sandra Dulay and Janet Eque, who have shifted from growing vegetables to cacao.
“Sa gulay, noong pandemic po talaga wala bumibili. ’Di po gaya dito sa cacao, per pods po binibili nila,” Janet said.
[No one bought vegetables during the pandemic. Unlike cacao, which people bought per pod.]
Apart from hygiene kits and medical consultations, they also received grocery packs, pastries, a breast examination, and a pap smear.
GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
