Is Mike Enriquez ready to retire?

After recently undergoing a kidney transplant, Mike Enriquez admitted that he is in the process of "reflection and discernment."

"If you ask what about, it's about my future, my career, my life," the GMA News pillar said during a press conference on Friday.

Mike is fresh off the three-month isolation period required for transplant patients. He underwent the procedure in December, and his isolation order was lifted last week.

He said that he promised himself that he would use that time to give a "serious look" at his life and career.

"Ano ba talagang gusto kong mangyari sa buhay ko? Is it time to turn off the microphone? Is it time to not turn off the microphone completely, but to lessen?" he said.

"I am still in the process of making that discernment," he added.

However, Mike also said that he is more than ready to return to his work as a broadcast journalist, saying that he "cannot think of anything that will break the deal as of now."

"Kasi ang daming nangyayari eh. And people like us in media, this is what we live for," he said.

Moreover, he actually prayed to be well enough to join the media coverage for Eleksyon 2022.

"This is one of my prayers to the Lord. I kept telling him, Lord, please let me be well enough in time for the election coverage. And He answered my prayer. Pinagdasal ko ‘yan," he said.

As of now, Mike is sure of one thing.

"[I want] to slow down without leaving broadcasting."

Mike went on medical leave last December for his kidney transplant surgery, and is set to return to his posts in "24 Oras," "Imbestigator," and "Super Radyo DZBB" starting Monday, March 28.

In 2018, he also underwent a heart bypass surgery. —JCB, GMA News
