Ruru Madrid suffers foot fracture after twisting leg at ‘Lolong’ taping
Ruru Madrid is recovering from a fracture on his right foot after losing balance while taping for the upcoming GMA-7 adventure series “Lolong.”
According to Nelson Canlas’ “24 Oras” report on Monday, this happened last Saturday when Ruru was shooting a stunt. The actor said he tried to improve the act.
“Medyo nag-alangan ako kasi parang gusto ko pang i-perfect yung scene. Medyo nakulangan sa taas ng talon ko so sabi ko, ‘In this take, tataasan ko na siya,’” Ruru said.
“Habang ginagawa ko siya, nagulat ako do’n sa sarili ko na gano’n kataas yung take off ko kaya pag-bagsak ko, unexpected na bigla kong na-twist yung right foot ko,” he added. “’Di ko kayang tumayo dahil sa sobrang sakit.”
The Kapuso actor was immediately attended to by medical staff present on set. After, he was brought to the nearest hospital from their lock-in taping location.
Through his X-ray, it was found that he had a minor fracture, so he is recommended to rest for two to six weeks.
Ruru admitted to feeling sad since they could have only had six days to finish the show. Nevertheless, he is grateful that his co-stars are showering him with care and support.
“I’m very sad. Ayoko po kasi ng because of me, made-delay yung trabaho but hindi naman p ‘yon pinaramdam ng mga tao po dito sa set,” he said.
The actor said he will do his best to recover fast.
Ever since Ruru started taping for “Lolong,” he has made sure to give it his all every time. Last year, he also got some battle scars from intense action and water scenes he did.
Apart from physically preparing for his role through numerous training sessions, Ruru said he also made sure to be mentally ready for it.
Ruru is set to star alongside Dakila, a 22-feet animatronic crocodile, in “Lolong.” The premiere date is yet to be announced. —Franchesca Viernes/NB, GMA News
