Abandoned husky who could no longer move rescued, now recovering
An abandoned husky who once could no longer move, was full of wounds, and was super skinny is now slowly recovering after it was rescued in Caloocan City.
According to Katrina Son’s “24 Oras Weekend” report on Sunday, the dog went viral online after it was photographed almost lifeless in the city.
This prompted Raevin Bonifacio to save him immediately.
“One month na siyang nakahiga sa previous owner niya. Tapos sinabi ata na i-dispatch na raw, ilibing daw. So siguro po, yung inutusan niya, naawa. Niligaw na lang,” Raevin said.
(It was with its previous owner for one month then someone was instructed to get rid of it. They were told to bury it. But maybe they felt pity for it, so they just abandoned the dog.)
Seeing through the dog’s eyes that it wanted to fight for its life, Raevin said he did not hesitate one bit about caring for it.
This was also the reason that he named it Brave.
“Nakitaan ko siya ng eagerness na gusto niya pang mabuhay ulit kaya nilaban ko talaga siya. Sino ba naman ako para hindi ko sila ilaban kung sila mismo gusto nilang lumaban, mabuhay pa ulit?”
(I saw its eagerness to fight for its life so I also really fought for it. Who am I to not fight for it when it wants to fight and live again?)
Eighteen days after being rescued, Brave is now slowly able to stand with guidance. Apart from vitamins and medicine, Raevin also helps him to get some exercise daily.
Brave isn’t the first dog that Raevin rescued. In his mini shelter, several fur babies whose lives were also put in danger in the past are now able to have good lives.
Among these is Faith, who couldn’t see nor walk after being hit by a car. There’s also Lolo Dog who was full of wounds, and Amir whose hair was falling out.
Although rescuing isn’t easy, Raevin said he would continue as what’s important is how he was able to help these dogs fight for their lives.
“‘Pag nakakakita kasi ako ng nasa kalye na hopeless na, nilalagay ko yung sarili ko sa kanila. Paano kung ako yung nan doon?”
(When I see hopeless dogs in the streets, I put myself in their situation. What if I was in their place?)
