Man who lost arm after motorcycle accident gets prosthetic limb from GMA Kapuso Foundation, LN-4 Foundation

A man who lost his left arm after a motorcycle accident years ago had received a prosthetic one from GMA Kapuso Foundation and LN-4 Foundation.

According to a “24 Oras” report Wednesday, 20-year-old Lou Matthew Deri of Cavite felt right after his accident in November 2019 that he would be losing his arm.

“Nagsisi lang ako kasi sana po hindi na ako umalis pa no’n. Natutunan ko na ’wag nang mag-drive ’pag nakainom at maging masunurin po sa magulang,” he said.

[I really regret it. I wish I didn’t leave then. I learned that I shouldn’t drive when drunk and I should obey my parents.]

Lou Matthew said it was hard for him to accept losing one arm because he wanted to become a chef and a basketball player. Nevertheless, he carried on and helped his single mom Marinor Agdan in any way he could.

His loved ones also found it difficult to see him in his situation. His grandmother Rodora Agdan did her best to look for a prosthetic hand for her grandchild.

“Araw-araw, nakikita ko (na) ganon ang kalagayan niya. Ako ang nahihirapan,” Rodora said.

[I see him with his condition every day and I feel bad for him.]

Thanks to LN-4 Foundation, Lou Matthew has received a prosthetic hand that will prove useful when he goes back to school. With his new hand, he also plans to work to help his family.

“Balak ko po mag-rider po gamit bike para po kahit papaano, may kinikita po,” he said.

[I plan to work as a delivery rider using a bike so somehow I can earn money.]

According to LN-4 Foundation’s Anthony Untalan, they made Lou Matthew’s prosthetic arm adjustable to match the length of his right arm.
