Child gets tongue tumor that causes swelling as big as his face, seeks help for treatment
A child who is suffering from a tongue tumor, which has caused swelling as big as his face, is seeking help for his medical treatment.
As seen on Tuesday’s “24 Oras,” Gadiel Caagusan’s body weight had also been affected because he had difficulty eating.
Gadiel also wasn’t as energetic and playful as he used to be, said his father.
“’Yung dating sigla niya na makikita mo na naglalaro sa labas tapos tatakbo-takbo, ngayon iba na. Dito na lang siya, tatanaw na lang sa pinto,” said Melvin Bonete.
[He’s not as lively as he used to be. He used to run and play outside but now, it’s different. He just stays at home and looks outside.]
According to senior ENT (ear, nose, throat) consultant Dr. Gil Vicente of St. Luke’s Medical Center, Gadiel is suffering from a condition called hemangioma.
“Ito ay tumor. Benign naman siya. Dugo ang laman nitong bukol na ’to. Eventually, kailangan natin ito i-angiography. Once na-identify natin ang feeding vessel, embolization,” he said.
[It’s a benign tumor. It’s filled with blood. Eventually, we have to check through angiography. Once we identify the feeding vessel, embolization.]
However, an angiography with embolization costs PHP80,000 to PHP250,000. This excludes the laboratory work and medicine that may be needed.
“Sana matulungan niyo po ako. Gusto ko na pong gumaling,” said Gadiel.
[I hope you can help me. I want to get better.]
For those who wish to help Gadiel, GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, PayMaya, Zalora, Mega Mart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
