Student who goes to classmate’s home to attend online class gets own laptop from GMA Kapuso Foundation

A college student who goes to a classmate’s home to be able to attend online classes now has her own laptop to use.

According to a “24 Oras” report on Tuesday, Dolly Ann Reandino, a second year information technology student, had been having a hard time catching up at school because she didn’t have her own laptop.

“Need kasi ng laptop lalo na ngayon. Mahirap kasi ’yung pamasahe pa lang papunta do’n, PHP50 na,” she said.

Her mom Maria Luzvilla Reandino, who is physically challenged after being diagnosed with polio, earns only PHP120 from doing manicures and pedicures.

Since the pandemic began, Luzvilla has been getting fewer customers, which made it even harder for her to earn income for Dolly’s schooling.

Dolly admitted that she thought of just stopping going to school, but her mom assured her that she would do anything for her to finish her studies.

“Magtiis ka lang muna at gagawa ako ng paraan. Kahit anong paraan basta mapag-aral ka lang,” Luzvilla recalled telling her daughter.

Among the things Luzvilla did was write a letter to GMA Kapuso Foundation to ask for a laptop for Dolly.

Responding to her request, the foundation’s staff visited their home in Alangalang, Leyte, and turned over a laptop as well as some grocery packages.

“Malaking tulong po. Hindi na po ako manghihiram,” Dolly said.

GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, PayMaya, Zalora, Mega Mart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
