Over 500 Cebu residents still reeling from Typhoon Odette get aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation
Over 500 individuals still reeling from the impact of Typhoon Odette in Cebu have received relief goods and hygiene kits from GMA Kapuso Foundation.
According to a “24 Oras” report, Tuesday, among the beneficiaries is Elvin Mercado, who works as a barangay tanod. His two-story home was completely swept away by the typhoon.
His family with five children is now living in an improvised space made from donated galvanized sheets and wood. Despite it not being stable enough, they are grateful to have shelter.
“Sa lahat ng nangyari na bagyo, itong Odette ang pinaka malakas. Ito yung [umubos] sa bahay ko,” he said. “Hirap na hirap na wala kaming pera. Kahit hindi napakuan, at least may nasilungan kami.”
Residents in Consolacion were also the beneficiaries of a feeding program under the foundation’s Operation Bayanihan project.
GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, PayMaya, Zalora, Mega Mart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
