Adalia Rose Williams, social media celebrity with rare genetic disorder, dies at 15
Adalia Rose Williams, a social media celebrity who documented her journey with a rare genetic disorder, has passed away. She was 15 years old.
Adalia passed away Wednesday evening according to the announcement shared on her own Instagram and Facebook pages.
"She came into it quietly and left quietly, but her life was far from it," it read. "She touched millions of people and left the biggest imprint in everyone that knew her."
It added: "She is no longer in pain and is now dancing away to all the music she loves. I really wish this wasn’t our reality but unfortunately it is."
Her family thanked everyone who had loved and supported her as well as the medical staff who worked for years to keep her healthy.
"The family would now like to mourn this huge loss in private," said the post.
Adalia Rose, who hailed from Texas, was diagnosed with Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome (HGPS). According to the National Organization for Rare Disorders, progeria, or HGPS, is a "rare, fatal, genetic condition of childhood with striking features resembling premature aging."
Adalia Rose was known for her lively personality as she documented her day-to-day life on social media. She had over 12 million followers on Facebook and almost three million subscribers on YouTube. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
