Andi Eigenmann defends Philmar Alipayo against accusations of stealing donations

Andi Eigenmann took to Instagram to clear accusations that her fiancé Philmar Alipayo stole donations meant for typhoon victims in Siargao, which was badly hit by Typhoon Odette.

On Monday, Andi said Philmar flew to Siargao to bring food and essentials to his family and their loved ones.

It was not clear who made the allegations, but Andi said they had received such comments.

“It is very sad to know that he is being accused of stealing donations when he even specifically ignored his chance to use his platform to ask for them,” she wrote on her Instagram stories.

“He’s more than willing to use his own money just to help our community out,” said Andi. “Just so hurtful that it always seems to be so hard to believe that my fiancé has his own money to spend.”

Andi said Philmar was the “same simple man who doesn’t really need much. Just for his kids to have a good life. Which is why it isn’t hard for him to share his blessings to his home.”

She said before he left, “I kept telling him to take care,” and “he kept assuring me he will be OK by saying, ‘mahal, I am used to having nothing. We are used to having no bed to sleep on, no aircon, no purified water, no proper food to eat. I will be OK.’”

Andi and her three children, Ellie, Lilo, and Koa, are in Manila, where they stayed while the typhoon made its landfall. Their home in Siargao, meanwhile, was left damaged by the typhoon.

Super Typhoon Odette first made landfall on Siargao and Dinagat Islands on Dec. 16. It has since affected 99% of Siargao’s population, including tourists, said Surigao del Norte Rep. Francisco Jose Matugas II. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
