Samantha Panlilio's 'Paruparo' lands in Miss Grand International's Top 20 Best in National Costume
Samantha Panlilio’s “Paruparo” is among the Top 20 of Miss Grand International 2021’s Best in National Costume competition, the pageant announced on Thursday.
The Philippine bet from Cavite wowed with her costume last Tuesday. She wore a gold outfit complete with breathtaking wings.
Designed by Louis Pangilinan, Santino Rivera, and Jojo Bragais, the national costume was inspired by the Paruparo Festival held annually in Cavite, her hometown.
Joining the Philippines in the Top 20 are Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Guatemala, Paraguay, Mexico, Malaysia, Spain, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Ecuador, Bolivia, Angola, Myanmar, Peru, Czech Republic, Thailand, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua.
The results were based on the fans’ votes from Facebook and Instagram, and the judges’ choices.
Previously, Samantha already wowed with her walk during the swimsuit competition held at the Yacht Marina Chalong. Later, she landed on the Top 5 Best in Swimsuit fan vote round.
She is set to wow the international stage some more during the preliminary competition on Thursday evening. The grand coronation night is happening on Dec. 4 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The beauty queen, who was crowned Binibining Grand International 2021 in July, hopes to be the first Filipina to win Miss Grand International 2021. —Franchesca Viernes/JCB, GMA News
