Alden Richards is putting children through school via self-founded 'AR Foundation'

Alden Richards has formally launched his self-formed foundation called the AR Foundation.

Through this, Asia's Multimedia Star aims to put children through school by taking them as his scholars.

In an interview with Kapuso reporters on Saturday, Alden revealed that he has actually been helping kids get an education throughout his eight years in the showbiz industry because he had the "urge to share what [he's] getting."

"Ayoko naman na akin lang ang lahat," he said.

Alden said that he would look for scholars to help out even back then. However, he didn't want to publicize his charity.

"Mas fulfilled ako sa result ng pagtulong kapag hindi nalalaman ng iba... I always share whatever I have," he said.

Eventually, Alden and his close friends decided to formally put together the AR Foundation, which only got registered back in September.

"I really wanted to focus on education, because I think that's one of the best things you can give to a lot of young people," Alden said. "Eventually, they will bring [it] until tumanda na sila."

Alden's drive also stems from the fact that he had difficulties accessing education during his childhood.

"Me, personally, I have experienced difficulties when it comes to studying. 'Yung gustong gusto mo mag-aral, pero wala kang pera pang-aral," he said.

"Totoo eh... medyo hindrance talaga ang kahirapan sa edukasyon. Mahirap mag-aral kapag hindi ka financially stable. So I want AR Foundation to be there... to be one of the tools ng kabataan, ng makukuha naming scholars, para at least marating nila ang mga pangarap nila sa buhay," he added.

To give his foundation a boost, Alden is holding a documentary concert called "Forward: Meet Richard Faulkerson, Jr."

Alden wants to show a side of himself that people don't know much about by giving performances that will drive the storytelling of his "purpose concert."

Directed by Frank Lloyd Mamaril, the documentary concert will be held on January 30, 2022 at 8 p.m.

Tickets are now available through the Ticket 2 Me website for P1,999 (VIP) and P999 (GA). —JCB, GMA News
