900 La Union residents affected by Typhoon Maring get aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

A total of 900 La Union residents affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Maring received aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a “24 Oras” report Thursday, among the beneficiaries was Alejandro Albandia, 63, whose house and source of livelihood were damaged by strong winds and flood.

Albandia said the flood reached up to his navel in less than an hour, and instantly swept his life away.

“Masakit po. Parang naiiyak nga ako. Nawala yung mga alaga ko tapos nagiba pa ’yung bahay ko,” he said.

[It hurts. I feel like crying. My chickens are gone and my house was damaged.]

Through the foundation’s Operation Bayanihan project, relief goods and bread were distributed to residents of Barangay Rimos No. 2 in Luna town.

“[Thank you to] GMA Kapuso Foundation. Siguro kung ’di kayo nakapunta, ’di ako makakakain ngayon,” Albandia said.

[Maybe if you weren’t able to come, I wouldn’t be able to eat today.]

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is also sending help to residents in Baguio City and Benguet.

Donations are accepted through bank deposits, PayMaya, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, Zalora, Mega Mart, and Globe Rewards.
