Did she slip, fall or faint? Tracy Perez explains what happened in Miss World Philippines coronation
So what really happened to Tracy Maureen Perez during the Miss World Philippines coronation night?
The beauty queen from Cebu hit the floor before and after her crowning moment, so some netizens speculated that that she might have been feeling faint or dizzy.
In an interview with GMA-7's "Unang Hirit" on Monday, Tracy dispelled the rumors and explained what exactly happened to her on stage.
"Hindi po ako nahilo. That, I'm sure, pero siguro, it was a mix of different factors na din po," she said.
["I did not feel dizzy. That I'm sure, but perhaps it was also a mix of different factors."]
Tracy's first fall took place during the announcement of winners and, according to Tracy, it was the more painful of the two.
As seen on the official video, the beauty queen took a tumble down four steps of stairs.
"Basta 'yung last thing I remembered, in-adjust ko po 'yung self kasi parang I was towards the edge na of the stage. So, ayun, parang natuluyan na nahulog ako na straight," she said.
["The last thing I remembered, I was adjusting myself because I was standing towards the edge of the stage. I ended up really falling off."]
The next fall happened a few moments later at the front of the stage, just after the crown was fitted on her head.
Tracy said she damaged her evening gown when she fell the first time, so the material had come undone and she ended up slipping on it.
"Ang nangyari sa second time na nahulog ako ulit kasi parang gown ko meron po kasi siyang mga fringe sa likod and then natanggal na po 'yung mga beads," she said.
"So parang natatapakan ko na siya, tapos naging slippery na po 'yung stage when I was doing my final walk."
["The second time I fell, what happened was my gown has a fringe at the back and the beads fell off. I stepped on it, and the stage got slippery when I was doing my final walk."]
It's been more than a week since the coronation happened, but photos and video clips of Tracy are still abuzz on the internet.
But what did the new Miss World Philippines think about her iconic "beauty-fall" moments?
"Jino-joke ko na lang—even my friends and my team—na: 'Two falls for the second Miss World crown!'"
Tracy is set to represent the Philippines at the global Miss World pageant this December. She hopes to become the second Filipina ever to win the crown after Megan Young in 2013.
