Aurora barangay gets bridge for residents crossing river with help of GMA Kapuso Foundation
To help its residents cross a river safely, Brgy. Umiray in Dingalan, Aurora, will have a 70-meter long hanging bridge with the help of GMA Kapuso Foundation.
According to a “24 Oras” report on Tuesday, among those who were thrilled that they would now have a bridge was 49-year-old Ricardo Bautista, who got into an accident for crossing the rushing Malakawayan River two decades ago.
Apart from the rocks and the slippery path, the water in the area overflows when it is raining.
Ricardo recalled that he rolled over the rushing water several times when he tried to cross the river in 2001, hurting his knee in the process.
The construction of the bridge that connected Brgy. Umiray and Sitio Malakawayan began in June.
GMA Kapuso Foundation senior project engineer Ed Eniego said the posts had been built and there would be a ramp for those going up the bridge.
For interested donors, GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting help through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuiller, or online through GCash, PayMaya, Shopee, Zalora and Mega Mart.
