Sanya Lopez gives advice to people her age saving up to buy their own dream home
At 24 years old, Sanya Lopez already owns her dream house.
She knows it's not easy for people her age to achieve this, so she gave some advice to her fellow 20-somethings who are saving up to purchase a home.
In a virtual interview on Wednesday, the Kapuso actress shared with GMA News Online that they should not be pressured and even she herself did not think she could buy a house that soon.
"Ang ginawa ko lang po talaga lahat po ng iniipon ko, lahat ng pinagtrabahuhan ko dapat may napupuntahan na agad siya," she said.
("What I did was all my savings, everything I worked for, they should be going somewhere already.")
"Hindi siya 'yung nandiyan lang 'yung nakikita mo. Kapag nakikita mo kasi 'yung money mo hindi mo alam saan papunta minsan e. so mas maganda na nakaisip ka na na, 'Itong kita ko, itong kikitain ko naka-set na dito sa lupa or nandito na para sa bahay,'" she added.
("It should not be just there where you can see it. Because when you can see it, you don't know sometimes where it's going. So it's better to think that, 'My earnings are already set to this land or for the house.'")
Sanya said what works for her is setting aside money for things that she needs which includes a house and a car.
Previously, Sanya mentioned she sacrificed having a love life and and skimped on expensive items such as bags and shoes to save up for her dream home.
When asked if she is now able to reward herself after her continuous success, Sanya said she once bought shoes but chose something that is not too expensive.
"Kasi sabi nila kailangan ko rin ng mga ganong klaseng shoes, so triny ko bumili isang beses lang po talaga pero mas sa ngayon po talaga mas naka-focus ako sa pag-aayos nitong bahay," she said.
("They said I also need that kind of shoes, so I tried to buy just once but for now my focus is really on the house.")
"Si Ate Kakai sinasabi niya sa 'kin kailangan mo 'yan, kailangan mo rin invest-an sarili mo," she added. "Sabi ko, 'Yes Chang, dadating tayo doon.'"
("Ate Kakai told me I need this, I need to also invest in myself. I said, 'Yes Chang, we will get there.'"
Sanya said whenever there are items that she is thinking of buying, she would ask herself again if she really needs them and think about practicality first.
She said the branded bags she has now are gifts from other people which for her would suffice her needs as of the moment.
Sanya on Thursday renewed her contract with GMA Artist Center.
