Dingdong Dantes on PNoy: ‘A simple man who beams with humility, inspiration, hope for the country’

Dingdong Dantes has paid tribute to former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

“President Noy was a champion for youth development,” he wrote on Instagram Thursday, sharing a closeup photo of the late president.

The actor looked back at the projects they worked on together, including their #NowPH movement presentation at the 2015 Paris Climate Change Conference.

He also recalled PNoy’s initiative to institutionalize Nov. 25 of every year as the “National Day for Youth in Climate Action” through Presidential Proclamation No. 1160.

Dingdong said he was “truly grateful” for the opportunity to know the former president beyond work.

“Behind that seat of power was a simple man, who beams with humility, inspiration, and hope for the country,” he said.

“I cannot thank him enough for the trust and confidence that he bestowed on me. And, I am truly honored to have served the Filipino Youth under his leadership.”

Before ending his message, Dingdong also thanked PNoy for his “selfless dedication” to the Philippines and its people.

“He was a formidable beacon of uprightness and incorruptibility during his administration. He will be in our prayers and we’ll always be deeply thankful for his service,” he said.

“We know that He’s seen his good work and that he is already with Him, resting in heaven’s glory,” he added, ending his note with the hashtag #SalamatPnoy.

Former President Aquino appointed the actor as commissioner at large for the National Youth Commission in 2014. He also attended Dingdong and Marian Rivera’s wedding in the same year.

According to a PEP.ph report, then Senator Aquino chose the actor as his spokesperson for the youth sector.
