Catriona Gray says losing Miss World 2016 added to her drive to win Miss Universe 2018
Catriona Gray has said her failure to win the crown at Miss World in 2016 added to her drive to win Miss Universe in 2018.
In a quick interview with photographer BJ Pascual on his vlog, the Miss Universe 2018 revealed how the failure pushed her to do more.
BJ and Cat talked about how professional she was when it came to her work ethics.
Cat said she had been like that since she was starting out as a model. “When I’m at work, I really work na I really give everything that I can,” she said.
“So when I went to the pageantry it became more work in a way because modeling fits in there and how to present yourself well and knowing how to work in front of the camera,” she said.
Cat said from being a model to beauty queen, she had to work on public speaking and building her own brand.
“I had already failed din so I had that under my belt so I guess that also added sa drive ko,” she shared.
Cat said failures “[teach] you something that you’d do differently you can do better or do the same.”
She admitted she had uneasiness in her heart when she didn’t win Miss World in 2016, despite not having any regrets.
Finishing at the Top 5 in Miss World 2016, Cat thought she would be happy if she placed higher, but she realized “it was not for me. I had something else better waiting for me.”
Catriona is the fourth Filipina to be crowned Miss Universe after Gloria Diaz (1969), Margarita Moran (1973), and Pia Wurtzbach (2013).
According to BJ and Cat, the earnings from their vlog episode will go to relief and aid projects of the Philippine Red Cross. – Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/RC, GMA News
