GMA Kapuso Foundation to distribute relief goods to Cagayan Valley residents affected by Ulysses

The GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) is set to distribute relief goods to over 2,000 families in Cagayan Valley affected by Typhoon Ulysses.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, GMAKF executive vice president Rikki Escudero-Catibog shared photos of volunteers packing relief goods.

“Help is coming, Cagayan Valley. GMA Kapuso Foundation is readying relief goods bound for Cagayan Valley, now experiencing terrible flooding brought on by Typhoon Ulysses,” she wrote.

She said soldiers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Joint Task Force National Capital Region were at the GMAKF warehouse to help with repacking and hauling.

The AFP Northern Luzon Command and the Philippine Army’s 5th Infantry Division would help transport and distribute relief goods to the families, she added.

According to Escudero-Catibog, the foundation will start its journey to Cagayan Valley tomorrow night and will give out the packs by Monday, Nov. 16.

“’Di kasi kami makalusot. Ang description nila kahit truck, kahit bus hindi makalusot dahil sa sobrang lalim ng Tuguegarao ... Pinapahupa lang namin ang baha dahil kahit anong mangayari ’di kami makakalusot right now eh, so bukas ng gabi babiyahe na ang GMA Kapuso Foundation papuntang Cagayan Valley,” she said in an interview with dzBB Saturday.

Escudero-Catibog also encouraged the public to send cash instead of in-kind donations to avoid the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Apart from relief efforts in Cagayan Valley, GMAKF will also visit Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes. – RC, GMA News
