Venus Raj, MJ Lastimosa, Ariella Arida to judge Miss Universe Philippines 2020 preliminary round

A whole batch of Miss Universe Philippines queens is coming to reign over the preliminary round for this year’s pageant!

According to the beauty pageant, Miss Universe Philippines 2014 Mary Jean Lastimosa, Miss Universe Philippines 2010 Venus Raj and Miss Universe Philippines 2013 Ariella Arida are set to be part of the judging panel for tonight’s preliminary round.

“I am looking for someone who is actually ready to compete na,” MJ shared during an exclusive interview with GMA News Online, Friday. “Someone who is actually ready … someone who is taking this responsibility by heart.”

Meanwhile, Ariella said that she’s looking for a woman whose very presence commanded power and who will bring home the country’s fifth Miss Universe crown.

“You really have to be a speaker, authentic na and at the same time, beauty of the face is important to me,” Ariella said. “Kumbaga pag tinignan mo siya, total package. When you’re standing, you can feel the command and power coming from her and when she starts to speak mas lalo ka nagagandahan, mas nakikita mo talino niya and ’yung substance niya.”

Venus also shared that the next Miss Universe Philippines for her was the total representation of the Filipino heart.

She said, “’Yung pagtumayo siya, alam ko na she’s representing the Filipino people. Not just physically, mentally but also the heart, representing the hearts of the Filipino people.”

“We were judging the preliminaries, we were like, ‘What?’ Sana ilang korona ibibigay natin para mabigyan ng korona ’yung deserving but there’s only one winner.”

More than 40 women are competing to bring home the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 crown.

While the preliminary episode will air today, Oct. 23, only on www.empire.ph, KTX, and TFC, the big coronation event will air on Oct. 25, 9 a.m. on GMA-7. – RC, GMA News
