This couple spent 2 weeks replicating the Manila Cathedral in Minecraft and it turned out amazing
The quarantine has been tough for some couples who were forced to temporarily endure a long distance relationship.
Mika Burbano and Joe Pulma, who were already separated by distance to begin with, are having an even rougher time of it.
According to a report on Stand for Truth, Mika resides in Quezon City, while Joe resides in Cavite. They haven't seen each other for six months.
Their solution? Minecraft.
Creating virtual worlds became the couple's bonding activity. One day, when they logged in and saw that their simple cottage was destroyed, they decided to level up their creativity.
Mika, who was an architect and a heritage advocate, had the idea to replicate the Manila Cathedral in the game.
"Meron akong book na Manila Cathedral na sila ang nag-publish. Kumpleto kasi 'yun, may plans, may isometric. Sabi ko ito na lang ang basis natin," she said.
And Joe, who was a multimedia artist, was up for the challenge.
They spent two weeks building the iconic church in Minecraft, and it ended up amazing.
"As much as we have our limitations in Minecraft, we wanted to represent the Manila Cathedral the best that we could," Joe said.
The church, meanwhile, was gratified to hear about it.
Rev. Fr. Nix Po said, "Para sa akin, 'yung paggawa ng replica ng Manila Cathedral sa gaming app ay hindi masama. Ito ay nakakatulong pa nga para maramdaman ang presensya ng simbahan sa mundo ng teknolohiya."
