This flower spotted in Masungi Georeserve is over eight feet tall
One of the world's tallest flowers has been spotted at the Masungi Georeserve in Baras, Rizal.
Staff at the Masungi Georeserve said park rangers discovered the massive flower in bloom after picking up its distinct odor.
The Amorphophallus rostratus’ bell-shaped flower, though beautiful, produces a foul smell.
The Masungi Georeserve said this was not the first time one of these enormous plants grew in the area. At least three species of varying sizes have been documented in the area.
"Truly this is another native wonder that must be conserved from quarrying and other harmful activities in our forests and protected areas!" Masungi said in a Facebook post.
The Masungi Georeserve covers over 3,000 hectares of land located in the southern Sierra Madre range in Baras, Rizal. It has been practicing conservation efforts for over 15 years.
It is also a popular activity spot for locals, who like to enjoy nature as they go through the caves, stone trails, rope courses, and a hanging bridge.
Last month, firefly trails were spotted in the popular conservation area, a sign that the ecosystem is healthy.
