Google Doodle pays tribute to public transportation workers

Google is paying tribute to all public transportation workers who continue to serve amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

For its Google Doodle on Tuesday, the search engine featured art portraying a blue bus, along with a message that says, "To all public transportation workers, thank you."

Clicking on the doodle would lead to a search of "thank you coronavirus helpers," and results display an artwork featuring various essential workers.

The art also featured janitors, grocery workers, food industry workers, policemen, and of course, doctors and nurses, among others.

Yesterday, Google honored healthcare workers on its homepage.

Last month, it featured Ignaz Semmelweis, the man credited for pioneering handwashing.

Officials have recorded more than 1.5 million cases and more than 96,700 deaths since the virus emerged in China in December, according to an AFP tally at 1900 GMT Thursday based on official sources.

As of Monday, the Philippines has reported 4,932 confirmed cases, 315 deaths, and 242 recoveries.
