Netizen produces 3D-printed 'ear savers' for frontliners
In his own little way, this netizen is easing the pains of our frontliners battling the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Using his 3D printer, Mon Sarmiento created "ear savers" for frontliners who wear face masks daily.
Instead of their ears taking the brunt of the mask straps, health workers can loop the straps onto the ear saver instead.
This aims to alleviate the pain brought by constant use of face masks.
Mon said he got the design from a crowdsourced 3D file sharing website. He was able to create three pieces of ear savers in an hour.
If he has enough materials, he plans to make a dozen to give to frontliners.
Aside from frontliners avoiding to be infected with coronavirus, residents under enhanced community quarantine are urged to wear face masks in public to help slow down the spread of the disease.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Monday called on local government units to pass an ordinance in their respective localities requiring the public to wear face masks as a preventive measure against COVID-19.
