Abby Binay shares alarming DMs from kid who wanted her to suspend classes in Makati
Being a public official means being on the receiving end of public criticism.
However, there are instances where you simply have to draw the line.
On her Facebook account, Makati Mayor Abby Binay shared screengrabs of some private messages she received from a student who wanted her to suspend classes in the city.
The mayor covered the name and profile picture of the student but the demeaning words are clear for everyone to see.
Binay was cursed out repeatedly, and more alarmingly, called a derogatory term.
"This is a just one of several private messages I receive on a daily basis. I see the side of other people's kids that they don't show to their parents," Binay said in her post.
"What is more scary is there are people who found this post funny!" she added.
Prior to this post, Binay had announced on her Facebook that she was no longer suspending classes following the Taal Volcano eruption.
"Let me preempt those who wish to send me a private message regarding school classes tomorrow, 15 Jan 2020. After two days of class suspensions, it is time for our teachers and children to go back to school," she said.
