Michelle Dee talks about about growing up in a ranch in Miss World's Head to Head Challenge

Michelle Dee has the looks, the body, and the poise that helped propel her to where she is now: competing for the Miss World 2019 crown in London.

But she wasn't always beauty queen material. By her own admission, Michelle was a wild little girl who grew up in a ranch.

Still, her childhood was what molded her into the person she is now, Michelle said during the Miss World Head to Head Challenge.

"I feel like it really curated me into the person that I am now. I gained a sense of love for animals, I learned how to do all my adventure sides there, learning how to ride ATV, learning how to groom horses, how to herd cows, how to shave goats, how to milk animals in general," she said.

"I remember my stepdad could never get control of me because I was this 8 year old little kid driving in fourth gear, when he said only to go up until second. I broke my arm," she added.

Michelle said that growing up in a town with a population of 6,000 to 7,000 people was what taught her independence.

"If you want something for yourself, you will really have to work for it. You can't just depend on the people next to you to give you what you want in life," she said.

The beauty queen, who is the daughter of former Miss International Melanie Marquez, spent a chunk of her childhood in her family's ranch in Utah in the United States.

She went back home to the Philippines when she was 15 years old.
