‘Dead Kids’ is first-ever Netflix original film from PHL
Netflix and Globe Studios announced on Friday that "Dead Kids" will be the first-ever Netflix original film coming from the Philippines.
According to Netflix' press release, Filipino film "Dead Kids" is based on a true story of a group of young boys who decide to take their rich and arrogant classmate hostage in exchange for millions of pesos.
Director of "Birdshot," the first ever Filipino film to be streamed on Netflix, and now the director of "Dead Kids," Mikhail Red said, "It has always been my dream as a filmmaker to bring Filipino cinema to a global audience. I am so glad and honored for 'Dead Kids' to be a Netflix Film, which is a testament to the world-class talent here in the Philippines."
According to Raphael Phang, Manager of Content Acquisition for SEA at Netflix, "Dead Kids" will be written, shot, and produced completely in the Philippines, "showcasing local Filipino talent, and based on events that would resonate with viewers both in the Philippines and abroad."
Produced by Globe Studies, the film will be starring budding actors such as Sue Ramirez, Khalil Ramos, Markus Paterson, and Gabby Padilla.
