Pasig’s Janelle Lazo Tee wins Miss Earth Philippines pageant

Pasig candidate Janelle Lazo Tee emerged at the top of the Miss Earth Philippines 2019 pageant, which was held in Pasay City on Wednesday.

Tee was named Miss Philippines Earth and will represent the country at the Miss Earth competition later this year.

The runners-up are Karen Nicole Piccio of Maasin, Iloilo (Miss Philippines Ecotourism);  Ana Monica Tan of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental (Miss Philippines Air); Chelsea Fernandez of Tacloban, Leyte (Miss Philippines Water); and Alexandra Marie Dayrit of Marikina (Miss Philippines Fire).

At the upcoming Miss Earth event, 2018 winner Phuong Khanh Nguyen of Vietnam will pass on her crown to her successor.

The competition was embroiled in controversy late last year when some contestants came forward to accuse a sponsor of sexual misconduct and competition officials of not helping them. — BM, GMA News
