Catriona Gray unites the country for Miss Universe: ‘Laban tayo!’

The universe was not quite ready for the Philippines' representative Catriona Gray and her showstopping twirl at the preliminary competition for the Miss Universe pageant. 

Catriona stunned viewers, and perhaps the judges, during the swimsuit portion with a slow-mo turn. She also gave a blazing performance in her evening gown. 

On Friday, she shared with her fans a quick recap of the epic evening. She expressed her feelings about the night through a string of emoji, mostly conveying joy. 

"Philippines, it brings me so much joy to carry you across my heart. Laban tayo!!" she declared.

Three Filipino beauty queens have won the Miss Universe crown: Gloria Diaz, Margie Moran, and Pia Wurtzbach.
