Heart Evangelista hailed as Equality Champion by LGBT groups

Kapuso star and fashion darling Heart Evangelista on Friday wrote a thoughtful thank you to the LGBTQA+ groups that recognized her as an Equality Champion.

TLF Share (TLF Sexuality, Health and Rights Educators Collective) and other members of the Lagablab Network honored Heart with a plaque during Equality Night, November 15. 

"Filipinos have always been known to be a people of love, and I believe that love is one that is never discriminatory; it is a love that is inclusive to all, regardless of age and sexual orientation. Thank you for giving me the Equality Champion Award," Heart wrote on Instagram. 

She added, "I will continue to create awareness for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community, and will encourage everybody to do the same. Let's all join forces to create a Philippines that is diverse, accepting, and full of love."

Heart notably wore a rainbow pin to express her support for LGBTQA+ rights when she attended President Rodrigo Duterte's third State of the Nation Address in July. 

“Everyone has the right to live, work, and dream. The SOGIE bill is a step in the right direction to guarantee the protection of those rights, especially for our friends in the LGBTQIA+ community,” the actor asserted then.
