From Miss Intercontinental Philippines to Miss World Philippines in just a year — why the need to get another crown so soon?

In an interview with Kara David for News To Go, Katarina Rodriguez stated simply, "This is what I want to do."

"I didn't win Asia's Next Top Model, I didn't win Miss Intercontinental and I see those as stepping stones to the bigger picture, which is Miss World. All of those experiences helped develop me to be able to win the Miss World Philippines sash and crown and hopefully to win Miss World 2018," Katarina explained further.

Katarina was a runner-up in the 2017 Miss Intercontinental pageant and was part of the final three of the second cycle of Asia's Next Top Model.

The beauty queen believes that these gave her an advantage during the Miss World Philippines competition. She gained more confidence in styling herself the way she wants to and she's now a sharper candidate.

"(Those experiences) taught me to be my own self and if you would like someone to represent your country in an international pageant, you want someone who is the most prepared."

In a separate interview with GMA News Online, Katarina said that she's grateful for everything her sister queens from Binibining Pilipinas taught her. Now, she's ready to conquer the world.
