Parenting website apologizes to Neri Miranda for misleading headline, caption
Online magazine Smart Parenting (SP) has apologized to Neri Miranda after the actor and entrepreneur called them out for publishing a misleading headline.
On Sunday, SP updated the story "Neri Miranda on breastfeeding Miggy: 'Gusto Ko Na Matapos Agad'" with an editor's note, acknowledging Neri calling them out and apologizing to the entrepreneur.
[Editor's note: August 19] On August 18, 2018, Neri Naig and Chito Miranda called us out for a misleading headline and caption on Facebook for this story.
In our desire to have moms read Neri's inspiring story, our poor choice of words on Facebook had people wondering if we were pro-mom.The fact that there was even a doubt makes us truly sorry to Neri and moms who have been affected.
The first time we shared this story on Facebook our caption was: Neri is lending her support to all the moms, no matter what feeding choices they make.We should have stuck with that. The decision to breastfeed or formula-feed lies with the mom. And whatever that decision is, it is one Smart Parenting supports.
The website picked up from Neri's blog post, "My Breastfeeding Journey with my Miguel," in which she shared her, well, breastfeeding journey. Neri mentioned how she wanted her firstborn to be "exclusively breastfed," how painful it actually was, and its various challenges.
On Facebook, SP captioned its post by quoting from Neri directly: "Feeling ko anong klaseng ina ako kapag papainumin ko ng formula [ang anak ko]?"
It obviously did not sit well with Neri.
On Instagram Saturday, she slammed SP, sharing a screenshot of its Facebook post that promoted the story.
In Neri's post, she said she was offended and immediately demanded an apology from the online parenting magazine.
Neri wrote:
Wow. Just wow. Ang daming nag send sa akin nito. Galit po ako. Hindi ako natutuwa. Really? Smart Parenting? Very smart talaga. Napakagaling ng gumawa ng article na to. Very responsible. Galing. Magsorry kayo hindi lang sa akin kundi sa lahat ng nanay na na-offend nyo.

She also slammed netizens who were quick to criticize her without reading the full story.
At sa lahat ng netizens na basta lang magcomment, hello? Nagbibigay kaya ako ng talk about my breastfeeding journey with Miggy.
