Violinist, actress, magician, dancers: Miss World Philippines 2017 candidates showcase their talents

Miss World Philippine 2017 candidates showcased their extraordinary skills at the talent presentation at Victoria Sports in Quezon City on Wednesday.

Apart from having statuesque figures and acing the catwalk, these candidates are also multi-talented. Some of them are actresses, there's a violinist, several are singers, poets, magicians, contemporary and ethnic dancers.

Twenty-six out of the 35 candidates performed in front of the judges to exhibit their talents.

The top six, who were picked

Among the judges were Miss World Philippines queens Catriona Gray (2016), Hillary Parungao (2015) and Queenie Rehman (2012), and fashion designer Bessie Besana.

Only six out of the 26 were picked to move on to the next round, including candidate #1 Shawntel Michole Cruz who sang a song she personally composed, candidate #5 Kacie Lyn Fajardo who performed an engaging magic show, #9 Teresita Ssen Winwyn Marquez who did dance partnering, #27 Ella Lubag who played the violin, #28 Shiela Reyes who graced the show with her contemporary dance steps, and #32 Jeanyfer Ozbot who did a Yakan dance called Pansak Si Laley.

Marquez said her performance was also inspired by her mother actress-politician Alma Moreno, who did extreme dance lifts back in her days, Winwyn said she used to watch her mom dance on VHS tapes when she was younger.

Her performance was choreographed by Sunday Pinasaya's Speed dancers.

"Tinulungan ako ng Speed dancers and I thank you for them, kasi very busy sila sa pinasaya, so kinausap ko sila since they are my friends and willing nila akong tulungan," she said.

All six are set to compete on the final round for the talent presentation which will happen on the Miss World gala night, they are also guaranteed a spot on the pageant's semifinals.

Apart from the Miss World Philippines title, 3 other crowns are up for grabs including, Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2017, Miss Multinational 2017 and Miss Eco Philippines 2017.

The Miss World 2017 pageant will be held on September 3 at the Mall of Asia Arena and will telecast on GMA-7 on the same night.
