Rachel Peters believes hosting Miss Universe will help PHL ‘bounce back’

The pressure is on for Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters to represent the country and secure another win on an international stage — but how does she feel about waving the flag from our shores again?

In an interview with Aubrey Carampel for GMA News' 24 Oras on Wednesday, the British-Filipina beauty queen shared that hosting the Miss Universe pageant again would be good for the Philippines' image.

"It's a good opportunity for the Philippines to bounce back and to be seen in a more positive light," Peters said.

Tourism Undersecretary Kat De Castro previously told the press that the Miss Universe Organization proposed the idea and that they will be meeting with organizers to discuss the feasibility of hosting the pageant again.

The Philippines hosted the 65th Miss Universe grand coronation event on January 30 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena. — AT, GMA News
